I have always been passionate about self-discovery, exploration, and healing. I am human and have fought my own battles, not always with ease but with hope and determination. In thinking of the darkest moments in my life and of those around me, I know how powerful it can be to have someone there supporting and encouraging you to be your best and most authentic self. We live in a world full of challenges and relationships that sometimes can be overwhelming and confusing. I chose a career as a therapist because I want to walk alongside people in this journey of life and impart hope to help them get the most out of life as possible.
Clinical Experience
Everyone has a story that includes happy times as well as hardships. In life we get thrown all types of hardships we never imagined and may not feel equipped to cope with or handle. My passion for mental health counseling came about in my own struggles in life where I reached out for help; yes, even us in the field seek out counseling from time to time. Over the past 14 years I have worked in the helping field in various capacities including crisis intervention, skills training, community education, career counseling, and mental health counseling. I have worked with all ages, from toddlers to geriatric, who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, family conflict, attachment disorders, anger, and those navigating new life transitions. I am a Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. My goal as a mental health counselor is to meet you where you are at emotionally and walk alongside you on your healing journey. I will work with you to help you understand your value and restore relationships with family, friends as well as with yourself. I will also assist you in gaining awareness, insight, and tools, so you can see and make the changes you desire.
Vocational Services
Career counseling is to help clients manage their journey through life, learning and work changes. This includes career exploration, making career choices, managing career changes, lifelong career development and dealing with other career-related issues. I became passionate about career counseling when I found myself at a crossroad in life and needed to figure out what I could do for a career. I liked that with career counseling it considers one's interests, values, skills, talents, strengths, abilities, and personality. It also allows for career exploration, job search strategies, resume writing and interview scripting. It is a comprehensive look at an individual to find the best fit for employment.
My Interest in Life
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and friends exploring nature, playing games, or just hanging out. I also spend a lot of time with my many pets, reading mystery novels and true crime and occasionally finding something worth binge watching on TV.
